NEWSFLASH!  JULY2004,
Clementine just passed her requirements for Canine Good Citizen (CGC) and Therapy Dog (TD),  Therapy Dog Certification.  She absolutely LOVES being with people and will provide many hours of enjoyment to whomever she meets.

November 2004.  Clemie completed her documented visits to become a certified and bonded Therapy Dog.
Clementine and her buddy, Buttercup, the Golden Retriever, visit with their friends at varous nursing homes.  Clemie is a hit wherever she goes and absolutely loves the attention.  Her greatest moment is getting a miracle response from a dog lover who was 103 years old who is blind and otherwise unresponsive to other types of therapy.  Clemie nuzzled her and brought back tearful memories for us all.  That's what therapy is all about, bringing back memories of the past and giving joy to those who can no longer care for an animal of their own.
Miss Clementine was our second mastiff.  She is a gorgeous apricot brindle, built like a Mack Truck..she's got bone and substance, great angulation, and a beautiful head, scissors bite, and the perfect temperment, quiet and reserved but always watching and alert.  She is loved by all who cross her path and she loves them back as well.  She made her first public appearance as an ambassador for the Mastiff breed in 2003 at the America's Family Pet Expo in Costa Mesa, CA...she has developed quite a fan club as we still get emails asking if we are bringing Clementine to the Expo.  Clementine has received her Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog certifications.  She has since completed her required documented visits and will receive her Therapy Dog identification card and jacket shortly. .  She can lean on you and lay her head in your lap and those eyes just melt your heart.  Clemie had a brief career in the showring which was cut short by a stairstep bone fragment in her left elbow. The vet hasn't determined if the cause was environmental or genetic, although it caused her some lameness.  We decided to spay Clementine last fall  and she will remain in our home as "aunt Clemie" to all the dogs and children and bring joy to the lives of those less fortunate. Update: It was with heavy heart that we had to let Clementine go today.  She had been battling renal failure for a long time.  She was a magnificent dog, companion and provided therapy to anyone who met her.  We love you baby girl.
